PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers today announced that the teams have begun installation of a state-of-the-art ProStar® video display at PGE Park.

The ProStar® display, designed and manufactured by Daktronics, Inc. of Brookings, S.D., has the capabilities to show live and recorded video, colorful animation and vivid graphics. The video display, which replaces the existing matrix board at the south end of PGE Park, will measure approximately 13 feet high by 26 feet wide with lines of resolution on 23-millimeter spacing. The display is a significant upgrade and will be an integral part of the entertainment experience for a variety of events featured at PGE Park, including Beavers baseball games, Timbers soccer matches and Portland State University football games.

“PGE Park is widely regarded as one of the top stadiums in the Pacific Coast League and United Soccer Leagues,” said Ken Puckett, vice president of operations at PGE Park. “We take great care in maintaining and improving the park each year, and we know the addition of the video display will significantly enhance the overall fan experience during each event.”

ProStar® HD-ready technology uses red, green and blue (RGB) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to present images and information with wide-angle visibility and incredible brightness. ProStar® technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and entertainment for years to come at PGE Park.

Versatile Daktronics scoring and display systems are used at more than 100 minor league stadiums and at 27 major league venues, including PETCO Park in San Diego, Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park and the new Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

The installation of the video display at PGE Park is expected to be complete prior to the Beavers’ home opener on April 13.
